Updates
What has been built.
Ludoo is in development in the open. This is what has actually changed, newest first — features that exist, not features that are planned.
Recent
A six can be added, and only to kick
A six may join the other numbers in your hand as one movement, legal only if it lands on an opponent and takes them. It buys reach, not passage — a wall in the way still stops it.
Every seat draws the same die
Three characters used to carry a weighted die. It is gone, deliberately: an opponent that is hard because it plays well cannot also be hard because of the dice.
The cast has faces
Seven portraits, a card that tilts and turns over, and six numbers on each one derived from what the engine actually plays with.
Friends, and finding people
Search by the name somebody shows on the board, ask, accept, and see who is at a table you could join.
A table survives a restart
Matches used to live only in the memory of one server, so a deploy ended every game in progress. Every move is now written down as it happens and a table can be rebuilt exactly, mid-match, on another machine.
Table Mode in the browser
The shared board runs as a web page, with a QR code to scan and a join code to read out. No install for the screen in the middle of the room.
Hybrid tables
A table can tell who is in the room and who joined from elsewhere, and treats both as equal seats.
The app
Ludoo now builds as a real iOS and Android app rather than a website in a shell: haptics, sign-in, deep links, and a screen that does not sleep while somebody else is taking their turn.
A physical die
The die is thrown, not generated: it travels, it bounces, it can leave the table. The server still decides the face — the throw decides how it gets there.
